  DELIRIUM / kadaj / advent children / in-depth

Written before the release

"Advent Children" takes place two years after the events in the game. Cloud has been living alone during these two years. Suffering from Geostigma, he has been traveling and changing his whereabouts frequently. One day he recieves a phone call from Tifa. She tells him that Reno wants to give him a job, so he returns to Midgar. But on his way there he is attacked by silver-haired men, who call him his "brother". They want to know where "Mother" is, and are accusing him of hiding "her" from them.

Cloud arrives and get to talk to a hooded man in a wheelchair. Reno and Rude are there too, supposedly the WCM's bodyguards. The WCM tells Cloud that "our purpose is to restore the world" and asks him for protection from a man called Kadaj. Cloud refuses.

The SHM who attacked Cloud before obviously have a connection to the man in the wheelchair. Kadaj, who is the leader of the gang, seems to be the one closest to the WCM.

Along with other children, Marlene gets kidnapped by the SHM. They tell them they have the cure for Geostigma. When Cloud interrupts their "meeting", the SHM use the children as their shield. Vincent saves the day, and Marlene goes with him and Cloud. Vincent tells them what the Geostigma is: the result of something Lifestream-ish fighting off something evil inside their bodies: Jenova cells.

Possessed children, summoned monsters, cries for "Mother", motorcycle battles, Sephiroth... just a few things we have to look forward to, when "Advent Children" is released.

Written after the release
To understand completely what happens in Advent Children, you've gotta read between the lines (or be lazy and roam the forums of your choice ^__~ ) Now, I usually don't warn people, but... HEAVY SPOILERS FROM BOTH GAME AND MOVIE!!!! And oh! I can't say I completely understand everything about the movie (and game), so there are probably errors every now and then. Feel free to correct me ^^ With that being said, please enjoy - this took me forever to write ^^;;;;

Advent Children starts where the game ends: Red XIII and his cubs (?) gazing at an over-grown Midgar. Since this scene actually takes place 500 years after the game, we need to go back 498 years to get to the events in the movie. And so we do, and we first meet Reno from the Turks.
He's in a helicopter, hovering over the Northern Crater. He's waiting for Tseng and Elena, who are down there looking for something. Suddenly, there are gunshots heard from the mist below, and voices screaming in fear. Tseng and Elena, who found the remains of Jenova, are being attacked by the SHM. Although the SHM can't get what Tseng and Elena found, they capture and torture them.

We are then given a brief summary by Marlene about what happened in the game. We learn about Shinra, Jenova and Sephiroth among other things. Very cool animations of the party members too ^^

Tifa's bar "Seventh Heaven" has been rebuilt, but know works more like an orphanage for children who have lost their parents because of Geostigma. Many of them suffer from the disease themselves, Denzel being on of them. Marlene watches over the young boy, when the phone rings. Tifa answers, and the person on the other side is someone she has met before. Tifa then calls up Cloud, who is somewhere in the middle of nowhere, also suffering from Geostigma. He knows there is no cure for the disease, and has no plans of going back - he would rather die alone. Although always carrying his cell with him, he doesn't answer, so Tifa leaves a message on his answering machine. She tells Cloud she's been talking to Reno, and that he has got a job, a commission, for him. Although it goes against his plans, Cloud decides to head over to the Healin Lodge, which are The Turks current whereabouts. What he doesn't know, is that he is being watched from afar. Three silver-haired youths have spotted him, thinking he has something that rightfully belongs to them: their Mother. Two of them, Yazoo and Loz, attack Cloud and demands him to tell them where he's hidden Mother. Meanwhile, the third part of the trio, Kadaj, is on the phone with someone. When Cloud's followers eventually retreat, Cloud puts his bike Fenrir to a halt, and discovers Kadaj just before he rides off.

After having perfectly counter-attacked a probably expected move from Reno (as well as Rude) at the Healin Lodge, Cloud finds himself face to face (well, almost) with the former President of Shin-Ra: Rufus Shinra. Rufus is in a wheel-chair, and we can clearly see signs of Geostigma on his right hand. He tries to explain what happened that day when he supposedly died, but is being interrupted by Cloud (I guess we'll never know for sure ...). The reason Rufus called Cloud there, is because he wants to hire him. Cloud shows no interest. Rufus says he has a big debt to repay to the world, and then tells Cloud about The Turks going to The Northern Crater. According to what Rufus said, they had found nothing, but that wasn't true. They had found the remainings of Jenova, but seeing how Cloud was not being co-operative, he would rather not share this delicate information. He does however tell him about the ones who attacked Tseng and Elena - the same trio who attacked Cloud. Kadaj is their leader, and they are described as brutal and very dangerous. That is the reason Rufus wants to hire Cloud: he wants him as his body-guard. Cloud declines, but before he leaves he asks Rufus what Kadaj and his gang meant by "mother", but Rufus tells him not to worry about it. That there are children all over the world longing for a mother's affection. That being said, he takes advantage of the fact that Cloud's living with the orphans (Rufus must refer to the time when Cloud WAS living with the orphans, because he obviously doesn't anymore. Although it's claimed that Cloud has been living alone for two years, there are photos (and drawings?) of him, Tifa, Denzel and Marlene at the orphanage, and both Denzel and Marlene knows who he is). How he would be able to put the smiles back on their faces if he were to help Rufus. But to no avail. Again Cloud lets them know he's not interested, and leaves.

Meanwhile, in the church in Sector 5 of Midgar, Tifa and Marlene make a discovery. Cloud's belongings (?), along with a stained bandage. Seeing how it looks the same as Denzel's, they realise Cloud is also sick with Geostigma (uhm... question! How long has Cloud been living there? For someone who's supposedly has been "changing his whereabouts frequently", it's weird to actually live somewhere. And seeing how Cloud wanted to die alone, he wouldn't choose to live in that church. Maybe he chose it to be the place for him to die, though, so he had just moved in there. But if he is in fact living there, it's strange that Tifa and Marlene haven't made that discovery earlier, because I doubt this is the first time they visit the church since the end of the game). Marlene wonders if him being sick was the reason as to why Cloud left (yes, this proves Cloud has been living at the orphanage). Tifa says that Cloud thinks he can fight the disease by himself, but then realises he does not have the will to do so. Marlene wants to wait for Cloud so that they can go home together.

We are then taken back to the Healin Lodge. The Turks have been knocked to the floor by Kadaj, who approaches Rufus. His voice is threathening when he's accusing Rufus of lying to him. Cloud did not have Jenova, as he had been told. Rufus swears he will tell the truth this time - that Jenova fell out of the helicopter while the SHM followed them. Kadaj doesn't believe him, and therefore asks him to swear it on the blood-stained ID's of Tseng and Elena, which he throws onto the floor. Rufus wants to know what Kadaj's after, and Kadaj tells him. He needs Mother's powers for the Reunion. With everyone gathered, they'll get revenge on this world. Seems like he has already made preparations in the form of Geostigma, but that isn't enough for him. This is also the first time, Kadaj refers to himself as a "spirit", and that he can't be normal without his Mother's cells. Being a spirit isn't enough for him either - it won't do for the "real Reunion". Rufus doesn't understand what he means, but as Kadaj kneels before him and slowly lifts his head, there are quick flashes of Sephiroth.

On the outskirts of Midgar, Cloud picks up his (Zack's?) old Buster Sword that had previously been kicked down by Kadaj. Yellow leaves fly with the wind as he remembers his friend Zack. Flashes of Zack then follow from the time they were going to join SOLDIER together, and when they get to the point of Zack's death, Cloud is painfully reminded of his Geostigma. As a reflex he grabs his left arm where the pain is located, and falls to the ground.

Tifa and Marlene are still in the church waiting for Cloud, when the doors open with a bang. Marlene, thinking that it's Cloud finally coming home, runs off with a big smile on her face, only to discover that it's not him. Tifa holds Marlene back, while the stranger walks up to them. It is Loz, and he wants to know where Mother is. Tifa tells him there is no one besides them there. Marlene runs off as Tifa and Loz get ready to fight. Judging by the way she looks, Loz clearly underestimate her powers as he's getting pretty much kicked around in the first round. (devoted FFVII fans can enjoy some of Tifa's Limit Breaks here, such as Beat Rush and Somersault to mention some ^^). When the fight seems to be over, with Tifa as the victor, she and Marlene hear a phone ring (a very familiar tune, eh? ^^). Loz is still alive and kicking, and answers the phone. After a short conversation with who seems to be Yazoo (because of the "I'm not crying!" line), he and Tifa goes into a second round. This time he is aware of the strength of his opponent, and comes out of the fight victorious, leaving Tifa injured on the floor. When he gets down to deliver the final blow, he is hit in the head by something. He looks up and discovers Marlene standing next to a box filled with Materia. An evil grin spreads across Loz' face as he gets back up and walks towards Marlene (Loz totally OWNS this scene). Marlene cries out for Cloud, as Tifa desperately tries to get up and tells Marlene to run.

Back in Edge, Denzel is sitting alone when a girl walks up to him (notice the moogle plushie ^^), and notices he has Geostigma just like herself. Telling him she knows someone who'll cure them, she takes his hand and drags him with her. She takes him to a pickup truck, where several children are already seated. A young man with long silver-hair is standing next to the truck, watching as more children jump onto its platform. This someone who is able to cure them, is no other than Yazoo. Although he's slightly smiling in front of the kids, his eyes show no signs of kindness as he turns around.

Cloud has finally made his way back to the church, and there he finds Tifa on the floor. He calls out her name, and she replies with "You're late..." Cloud wants to know who did this to her, but Tifa had never met that man before. She then cries out for Marlene before she passes out. Cloud looks around, but he can't see Marlene anywhere. Suddenly his Geostigma acts up again, and he passes out beside Tifa, still with his hand tightly held around his arm.

When he comes to, he and Tifa are back at the Seventh Heaven. Reno and Rude are also there, and not only do they let them know they brought them there (by saying they were heavy XD), but also that the children are missing.

Marlene as well as the other kids who were gonna get "cured" by Yazoo, are in the Forgotten City, where the SHM have taken them. Marlene isn't the only thing (in lack of a better word ^^;;) Loz brought there; the box containing the Materia found in the church is standing on the ground. Kadaj plays around with it while Loz watches him with amusement - then Kadaj presses the Materia into his left arm.

Back in Edge, Cloud is staring out the window into the darkness outside. Tifa wakes up, and Cloud tells her that Reno and Rude has gone off to search for the missing children. Tifa would rather talk about Cloud and his Geostigma, though. She is upset by his desicion to die alone, but not at all surprised. Cloud defends himself by saying that there is no cure, but Tifa thinks it's better to try to fight it instead of just giving up. She suggests that he stays so that they can fight it together, everybody could help each other. She wonders if Cloud's decision is based upon them not being a "real" family. Cloud is tortured by guilt and sins, claiming that he can't save anyone. Eventually The Turks re-appear. They tell them that although they did not find the children, they heard someone say he/she saw the children being taken away to the Forgotten City.

In the Forgotten City, the children (except for Marlene, who is still in Loz' keeping) have gathered around the lake while Kadaj addresses them. He tells them about the powers he has received as a gift from Mother, a power to fight the planet. A planet which hurt the people living on it. Kadaj tells the children that all of them actually have this power, that they are all siblings - bound together by Jenova cells. Kadaj promises to cure the children, but his real agenda is to activate the Jenova cells inside them, and awaken their Reunion instinct and thereby be lead to Mother (notice the "we will all go to Mother together" line). Kadaj steps into the lake, dark clouds spreading from his body as he comes in contact with the water. The water gets contaminated with his will. He then drinks of the water, and instruct the children to do the same. Believing, or at least hoping, that the water will cure them, they all get into it and drink of it. Denzel is among them. Marlene cries out for him, but he doesn't seem to hear her. As he drinks, his pupil's narrow, getting that cat-like look the SHM themselves have.

Cloud is approaching the Forgotten City at a high speed, when he suddenly is thrown into a dream-like kind of world. At first, there is nothing to be seen or heard, but suddenly he hear Aeris' voice. Now he also sees they are standing in a flower-field. Aeris can feel Cloud's being in a lot of emotional pain, but is still very hopeful. When asking him why he's come, he says he wants to be forgiven. Forgiven for what he did to her. Have her forgive him for not being able to save her. When Aeris wants to know by who he wishes to be forgiven, he realise Aeris never held him responsible for her death. He is then thrown back into the real world and notices just in time that he's being shot at. Three familiar faces are waiting in the distance. Yazoo and Loz fire their weapons, but the bullets don't stop Cloud. While Cloud is still approaching them at a high speed, Kadaj pulls out Souba and walks towards him. He gives signal to the children who jump down from the trees, forming a shield in front of Kadaj, Yazoo and Loz. Cloud's a little late in realising what just happened, and he crashes right into the crowd. The children form a circle around him, while Kadaj tells them about Cloud being their brother, but sadly, also a traitor for not joining them in their search for Mother. Kadaj is just about to strike Cloud down, when Marlene calls out for him (Cloud), and startles Kadaj. Cloud seizes the opportunity, and grabs hold of the sword he dropped when he crashed. Kadaj is being very quick on his feet though, jumping off and leaving Cloud slice through thin air. Yazoo and Loz also decide to join in on the fun. While Yazoo constantly is firing off his Velvet Nightmare, Loz decides to go into a close fight. He attacks Cloud with a ridiculously high speed, but Cloud manages to keep up with and avoid both his and Yazoo's attacks (notice Cloud's Blade Beam Limit Break! ^^). More fighting scenes with Yazoo and Loz follow, and soon after even Kadaj joins the fight. He manages to knock Cloud out, but he has no time to enjoy his victory. A red shadow descend from above and covers Cloud. When the shadow disappears, Cloud is also gone.

After being rescued, Cloud is taken to a place which Vincent visit frequently. That's how he found Kadaj and his gang. Vincent notices Cloud is touching his arm, and when Vincent himself does it, Cloud's expression shows nothing but pain. He realises Cloud is suffering from Geostigma, and explains what it is: the side-effects of the body's attempt to get rid of Jenova cells. Vincent then mentions he managed to save Tseng and Elena, also that they had Jenova's head in their possession. Cloud now understands that Jenova is the "Mother" Kadaj is looking for. Suddenly, Marlene appears. She rushes off to Cloud, saying she wants to talk to Tifa. Cloud reaches for his cell, but finds out he's lost it (during the fight, I forgot to mention that earlier ^^;;;). Vincent doesn't have one either, and Marlene is devastated. Cloud asks Vincent to take Marlene back to the Seventh Heaven so that he himself can go talk to Rufus, but Vincent objects. Marlene gets very upset with Cloud and wonders why he won't listen to them. Cloud just tells her to wait a little longer, and that the war is about to start. Vincent looks at him suspiciously, wondering if this really is about the war or if it goes deeper than that.

Then a flashback of Tifa and Cloud at the Seventh Heaven follows, continued from where we left them after the Turks told them to where the children had been taken. Cloud asks the Turks to "take care of it", so that he can go talk to Rufus, but just as Vincent did (or more likely, was GOING to do later), Tifa objects strongly. She accuses him of running away and senses his fear of not finding the children, or being unable to help them if he actually does find them. That's why he asks the Turks to go search for them instead. The Turks get fed up with Cloud and Tifa arguing, and tells Cloud to go after the children himself. Tifa wonders if they have lost to their memories, and Cloud is yet again tortured by his guilt. The flashback ends with Tifa asking why he won't forgive himself.

Cloud asks Vincent if sin can be forgiven, but although Vincent has been accusing himself of committing sins in the past, he says he has never tried it. Cloud on the other side decides to try. As he leaves with Marlene by his side, he tells Vincent that he will let him know how it turns out.

In Edge, the children have formed a circle around the Meteor memorial statue, and Yazoo and Loz have had it chained up, ready to pull it down. Since the children led them there, they believe Jenova is in there. The entire city seems to have gathered around them, wondering what they are doing. With a simple gesture of his hand, Yazoo manages to both silence the crowd as well as summon Shadow Creepers. People flee in panic, while the children remain still around the statue. Tifa is also there, and she finds Denzel in the circle. She rushes over to him, and when there's no reply to her calling out his name, she notices his eyes.
Yazoo and Loz are just about to tear the statue down when they're interrupted by Reno and Rude. The ask them what they are doing, and Yazoo then asks if Mother is in the statue. The Turks can't help them. Yazoo then sarcasticly asks the Turks if they don't have any faith in them, and Reno is very offended by this. He really wants to come up with a clever comeback, but when he can't think of any (just gotta say... I love the work SE has done on Reno's expression here, it's AWESOME), he runs off to attack them instead.

The scene switches to Kadaj and Rufus, who are at the 13th floor of a construction. Rufus wants to know what Kadaj meant when he said he would become normal once he acquired Jenova's cells. Kadaj, who probably thought Rufus already knew from his last explanation (or what to call it...), says that "he" will return. Sephiroth. Rufus says Kadaj will be stopped, and Kadaj wonders if that's the reason Rufus took Jenova. The Materia in Kadaj's arm starts to glow, and he suggests that they "end this". He raises his arm and summons Bahamut-SIN (or SHIN, or TREMOR, or whatever you prefer). Bahamut-SIN causes even more panic in the area, and in the middle of the chaos are Tifa and Denzel. Tifa still hasn't managed to snap Denzel out of it (just pick him up and run!). The Turks are just about to attack Yazoo and Loz when they see Bahamut-SIN, who has landed on the statue, and decide to run away instead (and poor Rude gets knocked down by Reno ^^). Yazoo and Loz are standing peacefully beside the statue, as if Bahamut-SIN climbing on top of it was everyday life for them, but then run after the Turks. While the Turks are being held up trying to help some children who obviously don't want any help, Yazoo and Loz move in closer. Bahamut-SIN is getting ready to fire off his well-known flare ( mega or giga or something else, I don't know ^^;;;) at the statue. The statue is torn into pieces, and the people around are blown away because of the waves caused by the explosion. The Turks having been knocked to the ground, and with Yazoo and Loz standing behind them, teasing them yet again, the following fight is inevitable. Although the Turks are pretty much keeping up, it's Yazoo and Loz who has the upperhand. After a short break, in which it's Yazoo's and Loz' turn to be offended (the Turks refered to their Mother as just a "head"), the fight continues. It looks good for the Turks in the beginning too, but Reno makes the mistake of stopping and do a thumbs-up to Rude - they both end up being knocked down.
With Bahamut-SIN still terrorizing the city, Denzel finally gets back to normal. Tifa has been knocked out of the explosion. Denzel realises Bahamut-SIN is the one responsible for this, and runs off to him. He is stopped by *drum-roll* Barret, who tells Denzel to go back to Tifa. Barret rushes off to Bahamut-SIN and running up beside him is *drum-roll* Red XIII! On Red's head we can see *drum-roll* Cait Sith! Red takes a big jump, landing on Bahamut-SIN with his teeth buried into its flesh (unless Bahamut-SIN's made of metal, I don't know... ^^;;;). Barret seems to be in a little bit of trouble, when a Shuriken flies through the air and hits Bahamut-SIN. It was thrown by no other than *drum-roll* Yuffie! Tifa and Denzel are watching all their friends return when they're suddenly attacked by Shadow Creepers. Someone steps in and saves the day - this someone is *drum-roll* CID (Cid rules!)! Then, Vincent arrives - looking for a phone shop (Vincent is just too cute). Finally, last but not least, Cloud arrives on Fenrir. He lets them know that Marlene is safe back at the Seventh Heaven. Denzel decides to go there and wait with her, but doesn't run off until he's made sure that Cloud will come back too (and what is that...? is that... a slight smile on cloud's face...? ^^). Tifa jumps onto Fenrir, and they both ride off to help their friends.

Again, the scene switch back to Kadaj and Rufus. Kadaj is most certainly enjoying himself and wonders what kind of monster he should summon next, when Rufus suddenly gets up from his wheelchair. In the same time he removes his cloth, not only revealing himself, bandaged around his head, but also the box containing Jenova's remains. Kadaj watches him in horror as he realises his mother has been so close to him all this time. Rufus tosses the box from the high building, and with a vicious look on his face, Kadaj charges some magic towards Rufus.

Further down, Bahamut-SIN is still terrorizing Cloud and his friends. Cloud jumps high into the air, and with his friends (including Aeris) tossing him higher and higher he finally approaches Bahamut-SIN. He delivers the final blow: Bahamut-SIN is defeated.

Kadaj fires at Rufus, but only manages to shoot off his bandage. Rufus falls from the building while trying to avoid Kadaj's attack, and the magic hits the construction behind them. While falling, Rufus grabs his gun and fires at Kadaj, but misses him (they are all such terrible shots!). Kadaj is determined not to lose mother, and just when the building explodes, he jumps after Rufus and the box. Down in the streets, still cornered by Yazoo and Loz, Rufus and Reno hear the explosion and notice their boss falling as they look up. Cloud, back on Fenrir, has seen what's going on too. Rufus keeps firing at Kadaj, and although he keeps missing him, he manages to hit the box. Just before he lands, Kadaj catches the box. Also, Tseng and Elena appears out of nowhere, just in time to rescue Rufus before he is turned into a big, bloody puddle on the ground. Kadaj can see Cloud's coming at them, and jumps onto his bike, followed by Yazoo and Loz, making Reno and Rude able to escape from them. Bad boys break the rules, so Kadaj drives straight through a "Do not enter" sign, leading him onto the highway. Having quite a start, Kadaj leaves Cloud in the mercy of Yazoo and Loz. The three of them go into a tunnel - let the fight begin! In spite of various attacks from Yazoo and Loz (like the one where Loz puts his Dual Hound into the ground, making him able to spin his bike around. COOL), Cloud wins the fight, leaving the other two unarmed, and Loz' bike torn in two.

Outside the tunnel, Reno and Rude are waiting, both of them carrying explosives. They let Cloud pass, but Yazoo and Loz comes out of the tunnel just in time for the explosion. The sound of it gets Kadaj's attention and Cloud manages to catch up with him. Suddenly, they come to the reason there was a "Do not enter" sign - the highway disappears underneath them. They both land safely (of course =P) on the ground, and takes up the race again. Kadaj puts out Souba while Cloud approaches him, but only manages to pierce his clothes on the shoulder. Cloud's sword is like two inches from chopping off Kadaj's right arm, which holds Jenova's remains (I guess this is where Cloud makes that rip in the box...?). They give each other angry looks before they race off yet again. Cloud is pushed down and forced to stop, while Kadaj drives off. Cloud's sleeve has been torn, and when he rips it off we can see the symptoms of Geostigma covering his entire upper arm. He then rides off after Kadaj.

Kadaj has made his way into the church in Sector 5, excited to finally be able to meet mother. But it seems like the damage to the box was more than he first had thought. Not only had it been shot by Rufus, but Cloud's sword has caused it further damage. Devastated by these news, Kadaj screams out his pain and despair, while desperately holding the box close to his chest. There is not much time for mourning, as Cloud makes his entrance (on the backwheel, YES, go Cloud!!). Kadaj is about to take off, but before doing that he launches magic towards Cloud. Cloud is thrown off Fenrir, but the attack has also made a hole in the floor, and water mixed with Lifestream trickles from it. The water rises, making a big fountain inside the church. It is Aeris' Great Gospel. The water cures Cloud's Geostigma, but hurts Kadaj. Kadaj rushes off, leaving Cloud standing in the water. As the last drop of water falls, Aeris' voice tells him to go after Kadaj.

Kadaj is awaiting Cloud, and he seems to have gotten over the fact that the box was broken. Cloud wonders what's about to start, and Kadaj says that mother will tell him (Kadaj). Cloud realises Kadaj is just a spirit, and that he doesn't know anything. He looks almost compassionate while saying this, but it doesn't last long as Kadaj is getting ready to attack. By saying he's a marionette just like Cloud was before, Kadaj fires off some kind of magic towards Cloud and pulls out Souba. Then another fight begins, and they both move around so fast it's hard to see what actually happens. They are both pretty equally skilled with their swords (but they keep missing all the time! =P), but Cloud's friends appear, riding in Cid's ship, to help him. Yuffie has brought Materia, and Cid and Barret argue on how they're gonna get down there. Vincent stops them by telling them to let Kadaj and Cloud fight on their own. Vincent being Vincent, he knows that Kadaj is the spirit of Sephiroth, and that he will come back. When this happens, it is Cloud who has to fight him. The fight below continues (the electric guitar background music has exactly the same melody as a swedish children song, it's so hilarious XDDD), and Cloud's Finishing Touch manages to knock Kadaj off the building. Hanging on for his dear life, Kadaj drops Souba but he still has the box in a firm grip. Cloud is standing just above him, and they watch each other in silence. Suddenly Kadaj tosses the box away, too quick for Cloud to react. The lid of the box falls off, and the insides leak out. With both his hands free, Kadaj manages to get up from the inferior position and jump after the box. He holds it closely as Jenova's remains keep leaking out, pressing into his chest. Cloud watches as Kadaj falls, words coming from his lips: Now I'll show you my Reunion. Cloud jumps after him, and just before he lands, he finds himself eye-to-eye with Sephiroth. Masamune appears (I never noticed before that its handle is blue and yellow just like Souba!), and with a big swosh with it, Sephiroth makes Cloud go flying threw the air. Sephiroth jumps after him, and lands very gracefully on higher ground behind him. He notices Cloud has lost his Geostigma, and it disappoints him. Sephiroth's reveal his goal - to use the world as a ship to sail the darkness of space, just like his Mother did. As he raises his hand, the sky darkens because of the Negative Lifestream that he controls (Negative Lifestream are spirits of the people who have died from Geostigma), and while doing so, he says "we will find a new world, and we'll create out future there". The 'we' he's talking about, must be himself and Jenova. And so, the inevitable fight begins! Sephiroth is the quicker one, but Cloud just about keeps up with him. Sephiroth notices Cloud had become stronger, and wonder how that could be. Cloud refuses to tell him and pushes Sephiroth through the ceiling (don't try this at home XDD). As Cloud jumps after and is attacked by Sephiroth, we can again enjoy Cloud's Blade Beam in all its glory (I was THIS close to saying that Blade Beam looks awesome IRL, but... you know... it's not IRL... ^^;;;). The fight goes on with various tricks and impossible moves and the like. Cloud gets kicked around more and more, and eventually ends up pinned against the wall, pierced through the shoulder by Masamune. Sephiroth asks Cloud what's most important to him, and if he could steal it from him. Flashes of Aeris, Zack, Tifa, Marlene and Denzel run by as Cloud pulls out Masamune. Appearing much stronger, Cloud tells Sephiroth there is nothing that isn't important. He jumps into the air, releasing Omnislash Version 5 (I've heard it's also called "Super Ultimate War God Champion Slash"...?). His sword is split in six different swords, five of them forming a circle around Sephiroth, and the sixth one still in Cloud's grip. Sephiroth is hit five times, each attack by a different sword of the five ones around him. The final blow is delivered by the sixth sword. Then, as Sephiroth's one wing appears, he speaks the famous words - I will not become a memory. He sweeps the wing around him and as he falls to the ground, Kadaj appears again. His body is weak from the fight, and he can hardly stand up. Cloud still gets ready for an attack, but when Kadaj runs to him, he falls into Cloud's arms. A distant voice echoes from the heavens, as Aeris speaks to Kadaj. Kadaj believes it is his mother, and as tears are falling from the sky, they are mixed by Kadaj's. Aeris, or Mother as Kadaj believes, suggests they'll go home. Kadaj raises his hand to the sky, and his body disperses while Cloud is still holding him.

The children are cured from their Geostigma by the rain. Rufus who is with Tseng, Elena, Reno and Rude (just HOW did Reno and Rude survive the explosion?) is also cured. Cid's airship is hovering over the city. Its passengers are all in a cheerful mood, waiting for Cloud to board.

Cloud watches the airship as he lets the rain shower him. Suddenly, a gunshot echoes through the silence. Cloud is shot through the chest by Yazoo (who, along with Loz, ALSO survived the explosion), whose body is also dispersing just like Kadaj's did. Although just being shot, Cloud manages to get up on his feet. He runs towards them just as Yazoo and Loz fire at him, and they meet in a big explosion.

When Cloud wakes up again, he is back in the church, floating in the water. Seems like it doesn't just cure Geostigma, but also healed his wound. Children from the orphanage are standing around him. A voice welcomes him home, and he discovers all his friends standing beside the water. Red XIII says there are still children with Geostigma, and Cloud walks up to Denzel. He takes him in his arms and lifts him into the water. Cloud takes some of the water in his hands, and lets it drip over Denzel's head, curing him from the disease. When the others see that Denzel has been cured, they all cheer and the other children step into the water too. Cloud is surrounded by jumping kids, when he suddenly discovers Zack standing in the entrance to the church, and Aeris sitting with some children not far from Zack. Aeris gets up to go with Zack, but then turns around to Cloud. Making sure he is alright now, she leaves with Zack. As the scene fades, Cloud says "I'm not alone".

I just noticed... it got less and less detailed towards the end ^^;; Probably because it gets more confusing in the end, and no, not even your dearly beloved web-miss (right...? XD) understands everything in this movie =P

Also, a fun fact. My parents watched this movie. Yes, that ALONE is a fun fact, I never thought I'd live to see the day. But THE funniest part (or saddest, if you will), is that dad fell asleep during the Cloud vs Sephiroth fight! XDDD
