Kadaj's outfit doesn't look that complicated at first sight. It's when you look closely at it, that you'll notice all the details. It's made of some kind of leather/rubber material, and seems to be designed especially for him, since it fits perfectly. It's probably very light too, because the wind grabs it easily.
Two leatherstraps form X:es on his chest and his back, and are attached to his shoulder pads (thingies shaped like flower petals). Because of the small buttons on each X, these pads seem to be removable. Those X-thingies are also connected to how he carries his weapon - check 'weapon' section for more info.
Kadaj has some funnel-like thingies around his wrists. He also wears black gloves. Which is a shame, because many men have beautiful hands, and I'm sure Kadaj is one of those men ^_~
Now the question is: is this outfit a coat or not? I guess you could say both. The coat parts just below his hips, both on the
front and back.
So how come the coat looks different from different pictures? Because there are small belts attached
to the lower parts of it, and gives Kadaj the opportunity to tuck these parts in around his legs so they won't bother him while
he's fighting.
1. These pictures are from when he's fighting Cloud, and you can clearly see the belt just above his knee.
2. This is from the summoning of Bahamut (?), and the coat seems much looser than it does in the previous picture.
Now, the next question is: how far does that zipper go? I can't tell, unfortunately. At some pictures you can see
something that looks like a zipper going all the way down, but it might as well just be how the coat is designed.
The picture to the left is of Yazoo, and it looks like his coat is zipped all the way down. But there are small
differences between what they all are wearing (Loz doesn't even wear a coat at
all), so it might just be Yazoo's coat that looks like this.
Kadaj wears knee-high boots, and they also have this leather/rubber look like the rest of his clothes.
