Rumour #1 - The SHM are clones of Sephiroth.
FALSE. They are spirits of Sephiroth. Sounds confusing? Well, at the end of the game when you supposedly kill Sephiroth, he is actually torn into pieces (brutal!). Those pieces are the SHM, and with his spirit still remaining inside them, his will survived. So that explains their silver hair and cat-like eyes, as well as why they're all left-handed.
The "big brother" they speak of is not Sephiroth, but in fact Cloud, since he's also part of the Jenova Project.
Rumour #2 - The SHM are three different parts of Sephiroth.
Weeeell, I believe we got this one covered ^^
Rumour #3 - The SHM are Sephiroth's children.
FALSE. Seph is way too young.
Rumour #4 - The SHM are Sephiroth's brothers.
FALSE
Rumour #5 - The SHM are not connected to Sephiroth. They are just 'normal' people.
FALSE. Aww. They are very much connected to Sephiroth, whether they like it or not ^^;;;;
Rumour #6 - The SHM are the "Advent Children".
(I still have no idea about this one, so I'll keep it like this)
The word 'advent' means 'second coming', so "Advent Children" can be translated to "children who comes next".
+ The word 'Children' appears twice in one of the trailers, and both times we get a shot of the SHM.
+ The SHM have taken Sephiroth's place in the figthing with Cloud (because Seph
is still too weak), therefore the ones who "come next."
- Parts of the story takes place at an orphanage, so maybe the kids there are the Advent Children.
- Children in general are the first to suffer, because of what the people who lived before them did to the planet.
Other confusing things
Question #1 - Why does Kadaj fall forward in the E3 trailer? Are we witnessing
his death?
This has been discussed so much around the net. Most people think he's
running forward to attack Cloud, but it doesn't look like that to me. You use
your arms when you're running, and Kadaj's arms are just hanging slack.
If he's really falling, why is he not using his hands to moderate the fall? Is
he unconscious? If so, how did it happen?
Maybe he got shot in the back by Vincent (since he's falling forward, and
Cloud doesn't use a gun)? Vincent IS in the forest, after all, so it's not
impossible. Plus, we've all read that Vincent saves the day during the forest
scenes. Although, Kadaj is still alive later on, so maybe he just got hurt.
His
eyes are closed, and is it just me or does it look like he's in terrible pain?
Either that, or he's concentrating really hard! Though, I must add, that when my sister watched the trailer for the first time she
shouted "somebody died...!" in that scene...
But to support the running-forward-to-attack-Cloud-theory, I'd say that smart
people would not put death-scenes in a trailer. It's too spoiler-ish. No fun.
WHAT WE KNOW NOW: This scene is not in the movie. The one where he stands between his brothers is, though, and in the next shot he pulls out Souba and walks towards Cloud, who's approaching them on Fenrir. FIGHT!! =P
Question #2 - Why does Kadaj's eyes look different when he's fighting Cloud?

You have probably noticed that Kadaj's eyes look very different in the fight
with Cloud in the Midgar ruins. They have turned completely white, and even his eyebrows
have changed. Basically,
Kadaj looks very, very scary and almost unrecognizable in these scenes. What's
the reason behind this? Is he perhaps possessed by something? By someone?? By Sephiroth???
Sephiroth did say he wanted to manipulate the clones himself (if the SHM are
clones, that is). But how come
we haven't seen the other SHM looking like this during their fights?
WHAT WE KNOW NOW: This scene is not in the movie. And since the SHM aren't clones of Sephiroth, it was probably just being a trailer messed up ^^;;;; He still looks scary, though! o_0
Question #3 - Why does Kadaj call Cloud a traitor?
Just like Sephiroth once did, Kadaj calls Cloud a "traitor" in one of the
articles from
adventchildren.net. Why? If he calls him that for the same reason as Seph
did, does that mean Kadaj and his brothers also believe they are Ancients? Or have they
just been so badly brainwashed by Sephiroth? Is Sephiroth acting through
Kadaj?? The last suggestion is probably the most believable, since Kadaj seems
to be possessed in some scenes. Just take a look at the pictures above. Scary.
WHAT WE KNOW NOW: The SHM call Cloud their brother since he's also part of the Jenova Project. The reason he is a "traitor" is because he doesn't search for Jenova, or "their mother", like they do.
Question #4 - "Then perhaps you tricked me?"

Or "So you lied to me?" This one's interesting! Who is he talking to?
It seems obvious to me though that Kadaj
is talking to someone he thought he could trust. The article which the image comes from also
says he's raising his voice, as if he is upset. Could it be Sephiroth he's talking to?
(can the WCM handle a phone? :P)?? Maybe Kadaj somehow found out he was just a puppet (if
that's the case), and is now accusing Sephiroth of lying to him. Or did someone
else betray him?? I'm dying to know!!!
WHAT WE KNOW NOW: He is talking to Rufus aka the WCM, who can obviously handle a phone XD Anyway, Rufus really was lying, telling Kadaj that Cloud has Jenova's head (that's why Cloud is being attacked by Yazoo and Loz in the beginning). Of course, Kadaj doesn't believe what Rufus says, but when he confronts him later on he is being lied to yet again. This time Rufus said the box containing Jenova's head was lost; it fell from the helicopter when they took off from the Northern Crater. However, Kadaj doesn't believe this one either.
Question #5 - Why are the SHM calling Cloud their "brother"?
The reason Cloud is called "big brother" by th SHM is because he is also part of the
"Jenova-Injected Family." Since he joined it before they did (assumingly) then it would make
sense for him to be the older brother (Thanks to Schala-Kitty!).
